Headstone FAQs
Who installs the headstone? In most instances the cemetery requires that they install the headstone. The cemetery’s Installation/Foundation fee and application must be submitted to the cemetery in order for the cemetery to accept the stone and install it. Please note that the cemetery Installation/Foundation fee is the same whether a stone is purchased from the cemetery or from an outside dealer and that it is unlawful for the cemetery to charge a different rate. In some instances the cemetery does not install headstones and in such cases a local monument dealer must be contacted to do the installation.
What information should I get from the cemetery before placing my order? There are three important things to ask. First, what type of stone is allowed in your loved one’s section, secondly, the size allowed, and lastly what colors.
Where is the headstone delivered to? In most cases the headstone is delivered directly to the cemetery. If headstone is to be shipped elsewhere please make a notation in the additional instructions section when finalizing order.
Will the cemetery accept a headstone purchased from Grand Memorials? Yes. If the stone meets that particular cemetery’s requirements concerning size, materials, and color, they are legally required to accept the stone.
When will my headstone be shipped? – Once you have approved the design layout the stone will be shipped to the designated cemetery within 3 to 5 weeks.
Will I receive a proof of what I am requesting before it is made? Yes. Once your order has been accepted and processed one of the first phases of production is the creation of a design layout. It will be sent to you electronically or if requested, by fax or mail.
Can I make a change to my design layout/proof? You can make changes to your design layout but please note that with each change, you are adding to the production time of the headstone. It is suggested that changes are limited to the first design layout only.
